This is a great project for an introductory woodshop class. It uses one 1x6 board per student and can be primarily completed with hand saws. There's a lot of creativity that students can bring to this project.
It's a great project to start the year with and go through your safety training as students can use a miter saw and table saw for parts of the fabrication.
Students can also learn hand drafting skills as they plan their project
